LT Joseph A. Seifert, CHC, USN Chaplain

    LT Seifert is a native of Minneapolis, MN. He began his Navy career in Newport Rhode Island where he attended Naval Officer Development School, followed by Naval Chaplaincy School.

    LT Seifert received his bachelor’s degree from Concordia University at St. Paul, MN.  He went on to receive his Masters of Divinity from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, MO. Chaplain Seifert was ordained on June 12, 2011 as a Pastor of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS).  Prior to commissioning as a Naval Officer, Chaplain Seifert served Trinity Lutheran Church in Algona Iowa for 3 years and then St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Cheney Kansas for 4 years.  He also served as a volunteer police chaplain for the Cheney police department for a year and a half.

    Chaplain Seifert commissioned as a Lieutenant in January 2018.  In his first assignment he served as the Command Chaplain for Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 133 in Gulfport, MS from 2019-2021.  Chaplain Seifert also serves as the Chaplain for Coast Guard Sectors Charleston & Jacksonville and Air Station Savannah.

    LT Seifert’s personal decorations and awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and the National Defense Medal.

    Chaplain Seifert is married to his wife of 17 years, Nicole M. Seifert.  They have four school-aged children.
