ET 'C' School IFF Section

IFF-01A UPX-28/APX-118 Xponder - This course provides Electronics Technicians, E-3 through E-6, with the skills and job aids needed to perform the preventive maintenance as dictated by the Navy Maintenance Index Page (MIP) 4552 and 4551.  Students will also receive skills and job aids needed to repair the AN/UPX-28 Transponder Set (V)1 and the AN/APX-118 Digital Transponder Set to the field unit level.  This includes performance of system operational verification tests, isolation of faults and successful restoration of equipment.

IFF-02A UPX-37 Digital Interrogator - The AIMS MK XII IFF System Maintenance and Repair course provides training for Electronic Technicians, E-3 through E-7, responsible for maintaining and repairing the AIMS MK XII system found on Coast Guard Cutters.  Students will receive training on the configuration of the AIMS MK XII IFF System which contains equipment that uses computer based technology (the AN/UPX-37 Digital Interrogator and the AN/APX-118 Digital Transponder) and digital, component based technology (AN/UPA-59B Decoder).  Students will be able to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the operation, preventive maintenance, and restoration of the AIMS MK XII IFF system including the AN/UPX-37 Digital Interrogator, the AN/APX-118 Digital Transponder, and the AN/UPA-59B Decoder.  Technicians will also be expected to accurately demonstrate system level troubleshooting skills including signal tracing inputs and outputs to/from the CV-3989/SP Data Converter, the SB-4229A(V)5/SP Small Radar Switchboard, and the AN/SPA-25G (V) Radar Repeater.
