CSMC Robert "Chad" Barrett

     

    Command Master Chief, Special Missions Training Center

    Master Chief Barrett reported for duty as the new Command Master Chief of the Coast Guard’s Special Missions Training Center in the summer of 2020.  Master Chief Barrett’s previous experience as a Command Senior Enlisted Leader includes having worked with the Command Master Chief of Base Honolulu in 2015, just over a year as the collateral duty CSEL on USCGC JAMES (WMSL 754), and two years in the position on USCGC KIMBALL (WMSL 756).

    Master Chief Barrett’s assignments afloat include: Plankowner on USCGC KIMBALL (WMSL 756), Plankowner on USCGC JAMES (WMSL 754), USCGC MORGENTHAU (WHEC 722), USCGC VIGILANT (WMEC 617), USCGC KNIGHT ISLAND (WPB 1348), Plankowner on USCGC WALNUT (WLB 205), and USCGC SASSAFRAS (WLB 401).  His shoreside assignments have been: Base Honolulu, USCG Chief Petty Officer Academy Instructor at Training Center Petaluma, Station Monterey, Coast Guard ISC Honolulu, Food Service Specialist “A” School Instructor at Training Center Petaluma, and Training Center Petaluma Master at Arms Staff.

    Master Chief Barrett is a graduate of Chief Petty Officer Class CLXXVI in Petaluma, California; and was the valedictorian for the tenth anniversary class for the Coast Guard’s Command Senior Enlisted Leadership Course, Class 05-14, in September 2014 at the Coast Guard Leadership Development Center in New London, Connecticut.  Master Chief’s awards include various personal, unit, and team awards, including two Coast Guard Commendation Medal, the Coast Guard Achievement Medal, and Commandant’s Letter of Commendation; but with over a twelve years of sea time, he is most proud of his Battle “E” Ribbons and his Permanent Cutterman Insignia. Master Chief has his Bachelor of the Arts in Management from American Military University, his PTC from The Cooper’s Institute in Dallas, and is a Level 3 TRX Force Instructor.

    A native of Granbury, Texas, Master Chief Barrett is married to former Patricia Rowan of Arroyo Grande, California. Together, they have one son, Hayden.
