Captain Tim Hammond reported to Force Readiness Command (FORCECOM) in July 2022.  In his role as the Chief of the Training Division, he oversees worldwide training and education for the U.S. Coast Guard.  He is directly responsible for all resident and classroom training, distance learning and a training enterprise composed of 8 national training campuses and 12 regional, specialized training sites.

Prior to his assignment to FORCECOM, Captain Hammond served as the Commanding Officer, Training Center Yorktown, and the national training campus for Coast Guard professionals in the Response, Prevention, Intelligence, and Engineering career fields.  As Commanding Officer, he led 835 active duty, reserve, and civilian women and men providing talent development solutions to the Coast Guard workforce and global maritime partners. He oversaw a portfolio of seven technical schools, and 120 advanced courses delivered in residence, on-line, and exported to field units.

Captain Hammond has dedicated over 11 years his career to developing the workforce. He served as the Training Officer at the Coast Guard Maritime Law Enforcement Academy in Charleston, South Carolina, the Chief of Operations Training for Force Readiness Command, and the Director for Training and Evaluation in the White House Military Office in Washington, DC.

Beyond developing the workforce, Captain Hammond has conducted search and rescue, environmental protection, humanitarian assistance, and law enforcement missions from the Bering Sea to the Eastern Pacific Ocean and throughout the Caribbean Sea.  His operational career has spanned over 13 years of service. Ashore, he served as a Search and Rescue Coordinator at Coast Guard Pacific Area/District Eleven Headquarters in Alameda California.  At sea, he served aboard six ships, commanding both USCGC CHINCOTEAGUE and USCGC PADRE in Key West, Florida, and USCGC CONFIDENCE in Cape Canaveral, Florida. 

Captain Hammond holds a Bachelor of Science in Management from the United States Coast Guard Academy, a Master of Science in Instructional Systems Technology from Indiana University, and a Master of Arts in International Strategic Security Studies from the National Defense University.
