MWR Facilities and Services

Authorized Users. Authorized users include active duty military, their dependents, retired military and their dependents, civilians employed by the Coast Guard (appropriated, CGES, and MWR) and their dependents, and others as authorized by TRACEN Petaluma.

The TRACEN Petaluma Aquatic Sports Center has a 2½ to 5 foot deep, 6 lane, 25-yard lap swimming pool and an attached 11½ foot deep end with a slide. The Aquatic Sports Center also offers a spa and a 1½ foot wading pool. The entire aquatic complex is housed under an aqua dome and safely enclosed with a 7-foot fence. The pool has restroom and shower facilities on location. The Pool also hosts BBQ’s and pool parties.

Age Requirements: To ensure the safety of all patrons, youth ages 13 and under must be accompanied by a patron 18 years or older.

At this time we do not offer a Masters swim club or an aqua aerobics program.

*Kick boards, pull buoys, and fins are available during lap swim hours.

Lap Swim

All lap swimmers are required to scan their ID cards. The scanner is located by the front office window. Non Active Duty lap swimmers will need to present their receipt of payment in addition to scanning their ID.

We keep the pool at a comfortable 84-86 degree temperature. We also offer kick boards,  pull buoys, hand paddles, and water gloves while at the facility to maximize your lap swimming or water walking experience. These items can be found in the locker on deck.

Life Jackets are available for use during Open Swim; please see a lifeguard for sizing.

Only U.S.C.G approved flotation devices are allowed.

The Bowling Center, located at the Club on Nevada Avenue, offers six automated lanes with computerized score keeping.

The Penalty Box Consolidated Club

 Caters to all active duty members, active duty reserves and dependent spouses, ages 18 and older. Offering a large selection of both traditional and non-alcoholic beverages, the Club really does have something for everyone!

The Club has Extreme Music Bingo every 1st & 2nd Tuesday of the month and Trivia Night every 3rd & 4th Tuesday of the month!  Thursdays are the famous TRACEN Karaoke Night.  So grab your friends and head up for all the fun!

Location: We are located just 60 miles north of San Francisco. From North to South on US-101, exit at Petaluma onto East Washington Street southwest through city of Petaluma. Washington Street becomes Bodega Avenue. Continue west following signs to Coast Guard Training Center just 10 miles. Turn left on Tomales Rd. Main gate is about a mile on the left. Once on base, turn right on Nevada Street, second building on the right. Bldg 134.

Everyone must have a US/State Government issued I.D. to enter the front gate. If guests are foreign nationals, without a U.S. Passport, they must be vetted at least 30-days in advance or they will not be allowed onboard. Please contact the Base Security Office at (707) 765-7215 for further information.

Season of Operation: Year Round

General Information: Eight standard rooms located in the Consolidated Club. Each has one queen bed, small micro/fridge combo, coffee maker, private bath, Cable TV and maid service Mon-Fri.

We have five VIP rooms. One suite with a one King size bed, small micro/fridge combo, private bath, cable TV, coffee maker and maid service every day. Four VIP rooms, which include one queen bed with the same amenities. 18 years of age and over allowed in VIP rooms due to proximity of barracks building. Club rooms available for family style lodging.

Reservations: Reservations can be made by phone or in person at the Lodging Office located in the Consolidated Club from Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm. Members holding PCS orders may reserve rooms 90-days in advance. All Active Duty and Active Duty Reserve members may reserve rooms 60-days in advance. All Retired Members may reserve rooms 30-days in advance. All GS/NAF Civilians holding a military I.D. may reserve rooms 15-days in advance. No Pets or Smoking. For more information contact:

A 48-Hour cancellation policy is in effect. We will need one nights payment to hold room reservations for each room booked. This deposit will be applied to your room bill upon check-in. Please note we do not store credit card information, therefore your remaining balance will be due prior to check out. This deposit is fully refundable up to 48-hours prior to check in time at 2:00 pm. A voicemail cancellation may not be sufficient as it is possible to call a wrong phone number. You must have a valid cancellation number, which you will receive upon official cancellation.

The gymnasium offers a large selection of programs for your health and fitness needs.  There are one racquetball court, four tennis courts, a multi-use room, and a full-court basketball court.  The latest in aerobics and weight training equipment is available, with Wellness experts to answer questions.

There are also two softball fields, lake area camping and picnic grounds, an archery range and Intramural Sports Programs.

The Lake Recreation Area is located at the southeast end of the Training Center Petaluma off Pennsylvania Ave. The area includes:

  • A 5-Acre Lake (No Swimming; Fishing-Catch & Release Only)
  • Picnic & Barbeque Areas
  • Walking Paths
  • Playgrounds
  • Canoes and Kayaks (Cannot be taken off base)
  • Horseshoes and Volleyball Areas
  • 6 Hook-Up RV Sites
  • Tent Camping Sites

RV Site and Tent Camping Information:

  • The six RV sites are 50' cement pads with hookups for electricity (30amps), water, WiFi, and cable TV.
  • Tent camping is permitted around the lake area.
  • Restrooms are available across from the site at the Community/Teen Center.
  • Shower facilities are available at the Tracen Gym.
  • Each site has a fire pit/grill and a wheel chair accessible picnic table. Note, that open fires are NOT permitted except for those from grills or camp stoves.
  • A sewage dump station is available on base (on the right side of Colorado just pass Wisconsin).
  • Pets are allowed, but must be kept on a leash and cleaned up after continuously.

Authorized military ID card holders can make reservations up to 90 days in advance. The RV fee is $25.00 per night, tent camping is $10.00 per night. Guests rates (anyone needing to be sponsored aboard Tracen Petaluma) are $50.00 per night for RVs, $20.00 per night for tent camping. Stays are limited to a maximum of 2 weeks at any one time and to 45 days within a one year period. Check in/out time is 1300.

Boys and Girls Club of USCG Training Center Petaluma offers a variety of programs that support adolescents from Kindergarten to 12th grade. Our programming provides the opportunity to socialize with peers and engage in age-appropriate activities. These activities are designed to offer a relaxing, warm atmosphere while also providing mental and physical challenges. Programs are specifically developed to promote active participation in a fun environment that can enhance peer camaraderie, create new friendships, and boost personal confidence. Only dependents of active duty military, Coast Guard civilian employees (including all NAF, GS, WG, and WN employees), and those employee classifications outlined in COMDTINST M1710.13B (Morale, Well-Being and Recreation manual) are eligible to use the Teen Center.  Each dependent over 12 years of age is issued a Coast Guard dependent identification card.  ALL patrons of the Teen Center must provide valid, official identification to the watchstander to gain entrance.

The Two Rock Coffee Co. is located in Town Center and serves a wide range of food and drinks in a cozy, inviting environment.
